Li-Cycle Holdings Corp. is a lithium-ion battery recycling and resource-recovery company founded in Canada and operating a “Spoke & Hub” model. Its Spoke facilities safely process batteries and manufacturing scrap of many formats and states of charge into “black mass” plus separated copper, aluminum and plastics streams, while Hub refining is intended to convert black mass into battery-grade chemicals for reuse in new batteries.
Operations
Li-Cycle targets closed-loop recycling for EVs, consumer electronics and energy-storage systems, including secure destruction for IP-sensitive materials and coordination of collection, compliant transport and processing.
Outputs
Recovered and produced materials include black mass, battery-grade lithium carbonate, nickel sulfate, cobalt sulfate and manganese carbonate (depending on Hub configuration), along with copper/aluminum fractions for downstream recyclers. As of 8 Aug 2025, Li-Cycle was acquired by Glencore and services are provided through Glencore Battery Recycling.
